We’re a Boise, Idaho accountability and prayer group for brothers and sisters in Christ seeking first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and desiring to build real community, real discipleship, real commitment to sound doctrine–both truth and love, both grace/forgiveness for sins and personal holiness/sanctification, desiring real unity and real peace–in a safe environment where we’re seeking to learn together when to turn the other cheek and when and how to calmly, gently, and prayerfully deal with conflicts and disagreements rather than throwing rugs over serious issues or bickering over disputable matters.
Those who should join:
*Christians transplanted to the treasure valley who don’t have any natural family in the area, who are looking for spiritual family to fill in the gap, based on the Proverb “Better a neighbor nearby than a brother far away.”
*Pastors and other ministry leaders who for whatever reason feel a need for a group outside their assigned church/organization to minister to them in an area where they are struggling (for instance, here you can be simply our brother/sister in the Lord and hence don’t need to fear judgment/condemnation, provided you’re not condemning yourself by being unrepentant.)
*Any Boise Christians who’d like to expand their support network and/or would like to participate in an independent, home-based, small group devoted to fellowship, seeking to live as citizens of Heaven, and committed to discipleship and spiritual growth first. We wish to seek to be the Church to one another religiously, but we don’t want to be a church in regards to legal definitions, and we encourage you to attend one also unless you have a personal conviction against the “going to church” mode of worship. (My husband and I do attend a local Church here in Boise.)
*Committed Boise Christians who have suffered spiritual and/or emotional abuse and are seeking fellowship that will seek to provide one another loving, gentle accountability to the Way in the context of healthy, safe relationships. (Note the organizers are “walking wounded” in recovery ourselves. Each of us must be committed to pray calmly through all conflicts and seek the mind and will of Christ together, forgive one another, take responsibility for ourselves, and gently and kindly show one another how we can be more like the Lord.) Meeting times, meeting locations, etc. will depend on what works best for the whole. Expenses directly related to the meetup group (such as the organizer dues) are to be shared equally by the whole group. As we grow in fellowship, personal needs/burdens will be handled by the group on a voluntary basis as the Lord leads and enables us. Tithe to your primary church if you have one, please.
*Committed Christians who need accountability and prayer support in their battle with sin and have had trouble finding a church that both teaches sound doctrine and will love them where they are and not jump on them for honest mistakes while still holding them accountable to their commitment to God to seek to live as a citizen of the Kingdom. We’re not perfect, either, but we’ll do our best to gently encourage you to walk in his Spirit of righteousness rather than in the ways of the flesh and do our best to give you opportunities to strengthen your brothers, too. Weak, even new brothers, are welcome here so long as you have sincerely are willing to submit to the authority of the King of Kings and accept the judgments of God (not man!) regarding sin and desire to grow in the Spirit and get the victory over the sin in your life–no matter what is in your personal garbage bag, even if you fear only death (or a miracle) can give you the final victory.
We desire to be a place where those who normally feel they have to be strong can be weak and be strengthened and encouraged to grow to be more like the Lord. We hope to be a community where “freely you have received, freely you give” is practiced, where we can all feel safe voluntarily and joyfully giving to each other what God has freely given to us when we have it in our hand to give and our brother has a need, knowing the others will be there for us when we need it and they have it in their hand to give, and also at the same time we want to be a place where no one is compelled to give beyond their ability or willingness to do so.
If you trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation, if you believe he is fully God and fully Man and the King of Kings, if you desire to live as citizen of his Kingdom in the here and now, if you are interested in partnering with other strong believers to hold you accountable and lovingly encourage you to get up and continue on in the battle against sin, if you want real Christian Fellowship and real Christian Discipleship, to minister and to be ministered to, and you live in driving distance of Boise, Idaho, we’d love to have you along side us.
We meet on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m in the 83705 zip code. If you have any questions or a’re interested in joining us, please email me (your current hostess) for the address and directions.
